Motor Oil Group: actively strengthening the circular economy. Green Oil (Prasino Ladi) at AVIN & SHELL service stations

Green Oil (Prasino Ladi), a subsidiary of Motor Oil Group, is a pioneer in the field of renewable and alternative fuels and the circular economy through the use of biological products, waste and products for disposal for the production of energy and new, more environmentally friendly fuels.

The company joins forces with Avin & Coral – Shell-branded stores -, bringing all citizens closer to the concept of circular economy and recycling. In particular, citizens now have the possibility to recycle their used cooking oil, easily and quickly, with significant environmental and sustainability benefits.

Green Oil is expanding the collection points for household oil by utilizing the extensive network of AVIN and Shell service stations. In more detail, as a starting point, a total of 32 service stations, 10 of AVIN and 22 of Shell, have installed special bins for the recycling of used cooking oil, with the aim that more stations in the network will have the special bins in the long run.

Green Oil collects annually around 25,000 tonnes of waste oils, which it currently recycles, using them to produce green fuel with a low environmental footprint. The fuel “biodiesel from used household oil” is the cleanest of the known fuels, with an extremely low environmental footprint (88% reduction in greenhouse gases) and is suitable for vehicle propulsion. It is worth noting that used household oils are highly polluting, pollute the sewage system and are responsible for increasing the mortality rate of aquatic flora and fauna.

Now, citizens can contribute tangibly to energy production by simply placing their used cooking oil (olive oil, seed oil [sunflower oil, soybean oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil, palm oil], nuclear oil, old rancid oil) in a plastic bottle and then leaving it in one of the special bins that can be found in many places around Greece with the Green Oil label and in selected AVIN and Shell petrol stations.

The Energy of the future runs through all of Motor Oil Group’s growth pillars. The Group’s priority is to ensure the country’s energy sufficiency and to accelerate the green transformation, effectively meeting the needs for alternative energy sources and green fuels that are essential for the country’s energy autonomy.
